Translators Associations Global: TAALSThe American Association of Language Specialists (TAALS) is a professional association that represents language specialists – interpreters and translators – working at the international level, either at conferences or in permanent organizations, and determines their qualifications and standards.

Founded in Washington, D.C. in 1957, this translators association has members located throughout the Western Hemisphere with several domiciled in Europe and Asia. Many of them are permanently employed by international organizations, government agencies and universities; the others work as freelancers.


Membership

This translators association welcomes all qualified conference interpreters and translators.

Applications are accepted through August 15th of each year. New members are admitted by a two-thirds majority of the members at the General Assembly held in November of each year.

If you wish to apply for membership in this translators association and meet TAALS’s requirements, download and print the application form that’s online. Fill out, scan and email your completed form to admissions@taals.net.

Membership in TAALS implies adherence to strict ethical standards and confidentiality, years of experience, and having met rigorous requirements for peer sponsorship.
