1-3 September - The Impact of Applied Linguistics

BAAL 2011 will be held at the University of the West of England Bristol (UWE). The conference will be organised by the Department of English, Linguistics and Communication with the support of the Bristol Centre for Linguistics (BCL). The Department has hosted a wide variety of conferences over the past ten years, including the Sociolinguistics Symposium, the Bilingualism Symposium and the Annual conference of the Association for French Language Studies. Most recently the first three-day conference on Meaning and Interaction (i-Mean) was held at UWE in April 2009.
1-4 September- Translation Memory-Systeme kompakt

ranslation-Memory-Systeme und Terminologiedatenbanken haben inzwischen einen zentralen Platz in der Übersetzungs- und Lokalisierungsbranche eingenommen. Doch bei der Viefalt an Systemen verliert man schnell den Überblick. Firmen und Freiberufler, die noch kein computergestütztes Übersetzungssystem einsetzen bzw. auf ein anderes System wechseln wollen, wünschen sich zunächst einen tieferen und objektiven Einblick in die Funktionsweise der einzelnen Systeme, bevor sie sich für ein konkretes System entscheiden. Im Rahmen des viertägigen Workshops, der auf 20 Teilnehmer beschränkt ist, werden die Translation-Memory-Systeme.

TM-Europe 2011 will focus on process management and standards for the translation and localisation industry and their practical business application.
